Order Before the Snow Flies

Getting wood to Heber means crossing Parleys Summit on I-80 and running US-40 past Jordanelle. Winter storms can slow that drive, so the smart move is to stock up early.

• Fall is best. From September through early December, you get the widest selection and the easiest roads.

Wasatch County is outside the area covered by Utah’s mandatory winter no-burn rule (R307-302), which applies along the Wasatch Front. The Heber Valley still gets winter inversions, so burning dry, seasoned wood is the neighborly choice: it lights faster and makes less smoke. In dry summer months, fire restrictions can limit outdoor fires, so check with Wasatch County fire officials and your HOA before lighting a fire pit.
