Firewood Prices and Frequently Asked Questions

A cord is the legal standard measure of firewood: a neatly stacked pile measuring 4 feet high, 4 feet wide, and 8 feet long, or 128 cubic feet. A half cord is 64 cubic feet and a quarter cord is 32 cubic feet. We sell by the cord and fractions of a cord.

A face cord (or “rick”) is one row of wood 4 feet high and 8 feet long, with no set depth. It’s only as deep as the pieces are long. With 16-inch pieces, a face cord is about one-third of a full cord. Always ask for cubic feet when comparing prices.

Seasoned firewood has been split and dried until most of its moisture is gone. Green wood is freshly cut and still holds a lot of water. Seasoned wood lights easily, burns hotter, and smokes less than green wood, which hisses, smolders, and leaves more creosote in your chimney.

It depends on your fire:

• Oak and hickory: dense hardwoods with the most heat and longest burn. Best for wood stoves.
• Piñon: burns hot with a signature sweet, spicy aroma. A fireplace favorite.
• Cedar: lights fast and smells great, but pops. Use a screen.
• Mountain pine: easy lighting and bright flames for campfires and fire pits.
• Apple and cherry: fragrant fruitwoods for fires and cooking.

For occasional ambiance fires, 1/4 to 1/2 cord usually lasts a season. For fires most weekends, plan on 1/2 to 1 cord. If wood is a main heat source, expect several cords per winter. Call us and we’ll help you estimate.

Delivery fees depend on your location and order size, so call for your delivery fee. Our minimum delivery is 1/4 cord and we deliver up to 2 cords per load, Monday through Friday. You’ll get your full price, including delivery and any stacking, before we schedule. See our service areas.

Yes. You can add stacking to any delivery. Our crew stacks your wood neatly where you want it, whether that’s against a fence, in a rack, or in the garage, and cleans up afterward. Just mention it when you order.

Earlier is better. From October through December demand peaks, so ordering in late summer or early fall gets you the best selection and more delivery dates to choose from. Call to check the current schedule.

Our firewood and cooking wood are air-seasoned: split and dried in the open air until they’re ready to burn. It lights easily and burns clean in fireplaces, stoves, smokers, and pizza ovens.

Yes. We deliver seasoned firewood to Park City and Summit County and to Heber City and Wasatch County on weekday trucks, from 1/4 cord up to 2 cords per load. Order in fall, before winter storms. See Park City delivery and Heber delivery.

No. We deliver Monday through Friday. In winter, our yard is open on Saturdays for walk-in pickup only. Call for hours.

Yes. Restaurants, pizzerias, and caterers can set up weekly, monthly, or custom standing orders of seasoned cooking wood cut to around 18 inches. See restaurant accounts.

Stack it off the ground on pallets or a rack. Cover the top but leave the sides open for airflow, and keep it away from your home’s foundation to discourage pests.
